Artisan Shop Keeper at The Buttery ATL

The Buttery is a sweet little retail shop and bakery serving freshly baked breads and pastries alongside a selection of freshly prepared takeaway lunch and dinner offerings. We have a selection of beer and wine, cooking and entertaining goods, and a patio for guests to enjoy freshly brewed coffees and built to order breakfast sandwiches. What is the Job? 

As an Artisan Shop Keeper, you will work in our shop assisting guests with boxing pastries and prepared foods, working the barista station, restocking the shop, and supporting the team to keep a clean and organized space. You will create a welcoming and memorable experience by helping guests with their needs, informing them of special promotions, and maintaining the shop aesthetic.  

What are the responsibilities? 

• Demonstrate knowledge of products, from the pastry counter to the beverage room 

• Set up and maintain a clean, organized shop according to brand standards; restocks all items as needed throughout shift 

• Work as a team player, helping your fellow shopkeepers with guest interactions and shop duties to contribute to a positive working environment 

• Possess the ability to positively and proactively handle guest concerns 

• Able to prioritize multiple tasks and openly communicate with your manager and fellow shopkeepers about next steps 

• Consistent adherence to the uniform policy 

• Reports for duty on time and manages one’s shift, communicating with their manager when leaving their station for breaks or family meal

• Has a passion for food and beverage with knowledge of pastry, bread, and coffee and a willingness to continue education 

• Has barista training or is willing to learn 

• Has a kind, friendly, and welcoming attitude with a desire to serve others and provide memorable hospitality

• Helps to achieve or exceed monthly and seasonal sales goals 

• Maintains an awareness of current marketing initiatives and website content 

• Communicates guest feedback to management team concerning menu requests, complaints, and suggestions

What are the requirements? 

• 1+ year(s) of retail or hospitality experience preferred 

• Able to move and/or lift heavier merchandise 

• Able to stand for long periods of time; occasionally kneel, bend, and crouch as required to reach items at varying height levels 

• Able to work in a fast-paced environment calmly and effectively
