Ellet’s is a convivial place for all to gather and celebrate. Pastry Sous Chef starting salary is 55-60k based on experience.

LOVE PASTRY! You love eating it, you love making it. You consider pastry a craft to be honed over time with lots of practice.

 

LOVE LEARNING! You devour books on pastry, both old & new. Asking questions and wondering why/how things work comes natural to you, and you delight in finding the answers. You’re a pastry nerd!

 

LOVE TEACHING! This is not a one-(wo)man show! Your ability to nurture others, and to share your knowledge, skill, standards, as well as uphold them, is part of being a great leader.

 

BE CLEAN & ORGANIZED! You're obsessed with FiFo, recipe binders, label makers and a tight walk-in.

 

BE FLEXIBLE! We are open 7 days a week, which includes early mornings & most holidays. Having open availability and a “can-do" attitude is key for this candidate.

 

HAVE THE HUSTLE! You work like you mean it. You manage your time well; with urgency, confidence and efficiency.

 

We also require you to:

· Maintain a working knowledge of all recipes, products and production procedures

· Ensure consistency, freshness and deliciousness of all menu items through tasting and thorough line checks

· Assist with daily ordering and some administrative tasks.

· Be computer proficient, with knowledge of Excel and other relevant applications

· Manage inventory, organization and overall cleanliness of the kitchen in its entirety

· Assist with daily monitoring of kitchen safety and staff etiquette

· Develop and/or maintain working relationships with our local artisans and growers

 

We ask that you have 4+ years of relevant experience as a Pastry Cook or Sous Chef and be 18 years of age or older. A culinary degree is preferred and food safety knowledge is mandatory. English/Spanish Bilinguals a plus!
